The weekends are spent at our 70 acres in Hollandale, which is in southwestern WI where Mark and I enjoy time camping,
fishing and hunting.

What percentage of your time is spent composing your music?

Not enough time!  I like to practice in the evening after I am completed
with my piano teaching day.   During that time of piano practice is when I
compose, usually during the week.  In the winter when we are home, usually
during the weekends, a bit more time is spent on composing songs.

How did you get started composing your beautiful music?

When I took private piano lessons, I often fiddled with improvisation.  I really enjoyed creating my own arrangements of
popular tunes.  In addition to improvisation, I created some basic compositions in high school and college.  Around 1998, I
composed the song “Long Ago Dreams” from the Make Something Happen CD which is dedicated to my mom LaVerne Olson.
That song was my very first composition that became copyrighted.

How did you become an outdoors woman?

Who is your favorite hunting & fishing partner & why?

What is it about the outdoors that has inspired you the most?

When I am enjoying outdoor activities like camping, hunting, fishing and don’t forget gardening, I am in awe with the many mysteries that nature presents to me.  From
the beautiful landscapes, to the sunrise and sunsets, the insects, animals, fish and birds, that is where I get my inspirations and ideas.

What are the most important personal satisfactions and  dissatisfaction's connected with your music?

I am satisfied with the final product!  I am excited when that completed composition can be performed for the public for the first time.  I am also happy when I am
composing and the inspiration from my heart flows immediately to the keys the way I hear it in my head.

I am frustrated when I have roadblocks while composing, and can’t hear the right chord progression of a piece or a section sounds weak and needs revision.

How has the love for the outdoors and composing music affected your life?

I have always loved nature and since I was a little girl have wanted to play the piano and be a piano teacher.  Realizing that life is short especially after my Mom’s
death, really pushed me to compose on a regular basis.  I am working on four new songs!

If you could do things all over again, would you choose the same path for yourself?

Oh I would absolutely keep the same path for myself.  (Except live out Hollandale sooner rather than later)  I am very happy with the direction that my life is leading
me. It is a very exciting journey.

Do you have any advice for someone interested in music?

Adults can learn how to play a musical instrument whether it is piano, guitar, flute or saxophone.  You don’t need a musical background.  That is why us piano or music
instructors are there. We help YOU pave the way.  If you have patience, and have a realistic goal for yourselves, you can enjoy learning a musical instrument and
creating music.

Do you have any special words of encouragement for other ladies who love the outdoors?

Ladies we need to continue to spread the word that us woman can enjoy bowhunting, turkey hunting, Musky fishing, Walleye fishing …… like our male counterparts!  If
harvesting an animal makes you sick inside, then bring a camera out into the woods and get beautiful pics of deer at 10 yards away.   Sit with your husband, brother,
uncle or grandpa while they are hunting to see that hunting is not called killing … it is the whole outdoor experience of enjoying God’s beautiful creation.  Being out in
nature whether you are taking a walk, gardening or Bluegill fishing should not be taken for granted.  It is a source of inspiration for living life to its fullest.

How do you want to be Remembered?

Remember me as Linda Seeley, the outdoor adventurous pianist!

It is always great to make new friends & to meet other ladies that share our love for the outdoors!  Sharing
this love through Linda's music is a treasure to us all.  After long hours here in the office or long days in the
woods or on the water, we find it so relaxing to enjoy the beautiful sounds that Linda has given the world

Linda Seeley is a new age pianist who loves the outdoors.  She gets her inspiration for her music by being out in nature
enjoying activities such as bowhunting, ice fishing, turkey hunting and walking through corn fields.  You will find her
beautiful music soothing and relaxing to listen to. As Linda says, "It will melt any sticky, stressful situation away!
AHHHHH it is meditative."

The Outdoor Envy Staff wanted to learn more about how the outdoors inspires her music and Linda took some time from
her busy schedule to sit down and chat with us.

What is a typical day for Linda Seeley?

During the work week (Mon. –Friday) I usually spend an hour watching a morning show,
next I go to the computer for an hour or so, then I take our cat Charlotte outside to
help fill birdfeeders or tie her up on her harness and work on the garden.  I love to take
walks around the neighborhood too.

By 1:00pm I get ready to teach private piano lessons either at my home or at my
studio in the city of Racine, WI, called Lakeshore Conservatory.  Typically I teach
from 2:30pm until 8:00pm Friday I am done at 5:30pm … I have about 50 piano
students of various ages.

I've always loved the outdoors. We had a
section of small woods in our back yard and
I spent many hours playing with my Barbie
dolls there.  I was fascinated with nature!
My mom mentioned to me that when I was
only one or two that I would try to talk to
the flies.
After I started dating Mark (later to be my
husband), he introduced me to archery and
archery tournaments, shooting at animal
targets.  I wanted to try bowhunting after
participating in the tournaments and once I
harvested my first deer, bowhunting and
later turkey hunting were in my blood
forever.

July of 2006
I began to love the outdoors at a very young age.  My parents had me fishing at the age of
two!  I loved every minute of it.  We used to get up at 5:00am on the weekends to fish
“Wind Lake” in Southeastern Wisconsin.  During the summer we took family vacations up to
“Bear Lake” in northern WI.  We rented out a cabin, camped and fished with my family and
friends.  I really enjoyed these times fishing and camping and always looked forward to
traveling up to the north woods.  I remember loving fishing so much up north that when we
arrived I ran immediately to the pier to fish for Bluegills.  After a fishing day on the lake,
I would love to help my dad clean the fish in the stinky fish shack!
When I was a kid, both my mom and dad were my favorite fishing pals.  When I met Mark, he
was and still is my favorite fishing and hunting partner.  He is my outdoor mentor and has
taught me so much about hunting and fishing.  We spend many weekends together fishing,
hunting and spending time out in nature. The song “Soulmates” from the Full Moon CD is
dedicated to Mark.
